Welcome by Chief Mel Stewart, Steamboat Springs FD, and the introduction of members and guests present. Dino Ross, Ireland Stapleton, will lead a discussion on Perfecting Your Performance Evaluations. Performance evaluations are an important component of an effective performance management system. Done correctly, they can improve an employee or volunteers work performance and morale. Done poorly or wrong, they can derail an employee or volunteers work performance and send morale plummeting. Even worse they can expose the Fire Department to liability. This work session will place performance evaluations into context in an effective performance management system and work through the steps of a sound performance evaluation process. Common supervisory mistakes and mistakes in preparing performance evaluations will be identified and analyzed. Please spread the word about joining the CSFCA and our Combination Section, especially to new Chief Officers as they move into your area. Invite them to attend our next General Membership Meeting, which will be on Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel in Steamboat Springs.
