COMBINATION SECTION MEETING
FEBRUARY 19, 2010

MEETING MINUTES

1.	The Meeting was called to order on February 19, 2010 at 0945 by Chief
Bruce Mygatt, Boulder Rural FPD.  The following Departments were
represented:  Arvada Fire FPD,  Boulder Rural FPD, Central City Fire , Eaton
FPD, Federal Heights Fire, Golden Fire, Johnstown FPD, Milliken FPD, North
Washington FPD, TC Wilson Insurance, and VFIS of CO.

2.	Chief Chris Riley was unable to attend our meeting.  Chief Riley is a
candidate for the Missouri Valley Division 2nd Vice-President position.  A
motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved for the Combination
Section to endorse Chris Riley’s candidacy.  We will send a letter to Chief
Riley stating our action at today’s meeting.

3.	Dino Ross, Ireland Stapleton, conducted a very enlightening and
educational discussion on Workplace Investigations.  Here are a few of the
highlights Dino discussed today:
·	Workplace investigations are an area that can be very difficult.  Accurate
facts and documentation are always needed.
·	Maintain an accurate up to date legal set of SOGs and Personnel Handbooks.
·	Never record or allow an interview to be recorded during an investigation
hearing.
·	Be patient, understanding and considerate in your approach and be a good
listener.
·	Always have a third party at every interview.
·	Attempt to create an accurate set of notes from the interview and ask for
approval signatures from the parties involved.

We were very fortunate to be able to benefit from Dino’s vast knowledge,
expertise, and experience on this subject.  Dino’s entire power point

4.	Director Cooke was unable to attend our meeting.  Dino Ross gave us an
important update on key legislation issues that he felt we needed to be
aware of.  Please see the CSFCA website at coloradofirechiefs.org for the
latest information on this year’s legislative session activities.

5.	A motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved that Chief Mygatt
continue as our group leader and our representative on the CSFCA Executive
Board.

6.	We discussed the final draft of 2010 Meeting Schedule.  After a few
updates, we are finally set to distribute this year’s schedule.  We
apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience during this delay.


REMINDER:  OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE ON FRIDAY, APRIL 16, 2010 AT 0930 AT THE
LARKSPUR FPD.  CHIEF BOB OLME WILL LEAD A DISCUSSION ON GRANTS AND LOANS.
